A1 (M) traffic: one person died after a serious night accident, police confirm
One person died following a serious nighttime accident on the A1 (M).
The road was closed shortly after 9 p.m. Friday (December 24) due to a collision between two vehicles.
Emergency services have closed the road between J1 (M25 J23 South Mimms) and J3 (St Albans) northbound and remained at the scene as investigative work continues.

Herts Police have confirmed the death of a person involved in a statement: “Unfortunately we can confirm that someone has unfortunately passed away as a result of this incident and if anyone has any information please let us know. contact.”
The road remains closed and detour lanes are in place. There is no estimated date for the road to reopen and motorists have been warned to expect disruptions.
It is not known what caused the collision and the appropriate emergency services have been approached for comment.
