“Hitman” Mangaka Seo Kouji’s Ecchi Harem Series “Goddess Café Terrace” Gets Green Light For Anime Adaptation

The terrace of the seaside Familia cafe and its five gorgeous hostesses are ready to serve, as Seo Kouji himself has revealed that his ecchi harem manga Goddess Cafe Terrace will officially receive an anime adaptation.

The last series of Hitman mangaka, Goddess Cafe Terrace centers on Kasukabe Hayato, a student recently admitted to Tokyo U whose plans are turned upside down when he learns of his grandmother’s death.

Left to tend to her Cafe Terrace Familia, Hayato returns to her beachside childhood home for the first time in three years in order to wrap up her business and close her store.

However, instead of arriving to find an empty building, to his surprise, Hayato discovers five mysterious girls claiming to be part of “grandma’s family”.

Unable to dump the girls on their own, Hayato resolves to work with them to restore his grandmother’s business to a thriving state – while intertwining their fates.

On September 7, the self-proclaimed king of romantic comedies announced the news via his personal Twitter account.

Along with this tweet, the mangaka shared a new illustration of the series’ main cast in their signature uniforms with feathers fluttering around them.

Tweeting the series color page, as featured in Weekly Shounen Magazine #42, the official Goddess Cafe Terrace account further exclaimed (via DeepL), “in 2023, ‘Goddess Cafe Terrace‘ will become a television anime!

“Details will be announced in Weekly Shonen Magazine and on this account from time to time!” the count continued. “Thank you all for your support! thank you 😊 Thank you for your continued support as a ‘Familiar’! Really looking forward to seeing how the Familiars move on”

Chapter 74 of Goddess Cafe Terrace, which was released just days after the news broke, also featured a special set of colors depicting the cafe’s original staff – who also happen to be the protagonists’ grandmothers – celebrating the announcement.

In the hours leading up to the announcement, the manager Goddess Cafe Terrace The Twitter account did a countdown of each of the employees at the eponymous cafe, sharing each of their individual portraits before they were finally collected in the above announcement image of Kouji.

This teaser started with social butterfly tsundere Riho Tsukishima. A former child actress with a tragic past who was Riho will do whatever she can to protect the Familia Café Terrace, which kept her safe from her abusive mother and allowed her to be who she really wanted to be.

The next was Shiragiku Ono. The classic definition of a good girl with a spicy side, upon meeting Shiragiku, she is first introduced as an innocent woman with a penchant for cooking.

However, when she smells a puff of alcohol (and we mean any alcohol), this adorable busty chef gets drunk easily and unleashes an unexpected wild side.

The youngest – and let’s face it, the most mysterious – of the group, Ami Tsuruga is a street fighter addicted tomboy who literally uses the Hadouken in his own martial arts tournaments.

A general goofball and constant prankster who’s always ready with an epic Pennywise mask or random joke glasses, Ami’s antics always manage to put a smile on everyone’s face.

Then came Ouka Makusawa, a sharp-tongued budding costume designer.

Instead of following in her prestigious family’s footsteps and going to Tokyo U, Ouka enrolled in a professional fashion design school before eventually ending up as the mastermind behind all the suits worn at Familia Café Terrace.

Best saved for last, the countdown finally ended with Akane Hououji.

The rebellious heir to her family’s 200-year-old business enterprise, Akane came to work for the Familia Café Terrace because it gave her time to start her band and live her life to the fullest.

Although no other details apart from its existence were revealed, a massive question hovered around the Goddess Cafe Terrace anime is whether or not Kouji will be involved in its production.

As the mangaka has a clear idea of ​​how the industry works – Hitman even featured an entire arc dedicated to the corporate aspects of manga-to-anime adaptations – it will be interesting to see what influence, if any, it will have on Goddess Cafe Terrace.
