Sridharan Sriram, the new technical consultant for the Bangladesh T20I team, arrived in Dhaka on Sunday. The former India international arrived in Dhaka around 2 p.m. Upon his arrival in Bangladesh, Sriram headed straight for Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur where an intra-squad match was taking place involving the players making the squad for the Asian Cup.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed Sriram as technical consultant for the T20I team through an official statement on Friday.
Sriram’s involvement with Cricket Australia began in 2015 when he was part of the Australia A coaching staff which toured India. Sriram worked with the Australian national team for six years, primarily as a spin coach. He recently quit his position as assistant coach of Australia to focus on his coaching career in India. The former left-arm slow bowler also worked as a batting and spin bowling coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
“We wanted someone who is involved in T20 cricket and has a wealth of experience. He has worked in the IPL and Australia for a long time. The World Cup is in Australia and that made us want him.” said BCB Chairman Nazmul Hassan. said Friday.
“When [Sridharan] Sriram comes, he will have his say since he works a lot with the T20 teams. And since he is from Asia, our culture is similar. It will also be easy to talk or communicate. We will definitely see a change after he arrives,” team manager Khaled Mahmud said optimistically on Saturday.
